At last, they will celebrate Christmas in Ukraine together with the whole Europe. Before now, the Ukrainians celebrated only the Eastern Orthodox Christmas on January 7 after the celebration of the New Year on December 31.
The law of making December 25 an official non-working holiday has been published in the parliamentary newspaper Holos Ukrainy.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed the law on November 29. The law also cancels non-working day on May 2, so called Labor Day – former Soviet holiday. The first step to get rid of imperial Russian influence was made when the Soviet Army holiday on February 23, which they still celebrate in RF, was denied.
